Landscape Painting in Gouache & Watercolor
One- Day Workshop with Karen Winslow
10am -4pm
Sunday, July 14, 2024 (rain date, Monday, July 15)
Gouache (pronounced gwash) is opaque watercolor. It is a wonderful medium that, and when
used with transparent watercolor, gives artists an excellent way to produce small, fast plein air
studies that dry quickly, require minimal equipment, are economical, and are easy to transport.
This makes them ideal for hiking or travel, when you want to keep everything light and simple.
In this outdoor class, we will be producing small plein air studies from nature using both
opaque and transparent watercolor on toned paper. Atmospheric perspective, color,
composition, design, value structure, and movement, as well as working in mass and creating
an illusion of outdoor light and depth will be our goal.
